A couple of weeks ago I had the honor of documenting 3 years of marriage.  Summer & Ray scheduled this shoot last Christmas and I couldn’t have been more excited!  We decided to head down to Charlottesville, VA for a change of pace and man am I glad we did!  Central VA is certainly pretty this time of year (especially with all the rain we have been getting)!  They have been patiently waiting for this post so, on with the pics!

Meet Summer.  Her name totally fits her.  She is such a bright, happy, and loving person who will do anything for anyone.

Meet Ray.  Ray is a sweetie ( I can say that about a guy right?).  He is one of the worship leaders for DC Metro Church and has a heart of gold!

Together they make one cute couple:)

One thing I strive to capture between every couple is passion.  For me that interprets into “kissy” pictures and a few serious ones.  So, about half of my shoots fall in those two categories.  Sure we still have quite a few that are more traditional, but this way you have the option.  Most of the favorites are the “kissy” ones though:)

A few weeks ago I had the treat of photographing Asher & his awesome parents.  Asher is going to be one smart kiddo!  Tracy, his mom, goes to school with my husband at the University of Maryland, where they are both working towards their PhD in criminology, and his dad, Denesh, is a professor at William & Mary (in Williamsburg, VA).  Talk about some good genes!  We met up at City Place in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland and prayed that the rain would stay away for just a little while longer.  Turns out it did and we got some great shots!

Tracy & Denesh – I so hope that you enjoy these pics of your adorable family!  Thanks again for introducing us to Pho-Hiep Hoa (yummmmmy Vietnamese restaurant)!

This one has to be one of my favorites!

Part way through the shoot we decided to snap some of just mom & dad – so Asher and Brandon shared a snack of Cheerios.  It was too cute to not capture!

Tracy – you are so beautiful!

And now my favorite…..this one tells a story to me.  This moment was unscripted as they waited on me to “change my card” or “test lighting”.  The joy on Tracy’s face, the protection over Asher coming from Denesh, and Asher being a little boy and playing with anything he can get his hands on (in this case his mom’s sunglasses).  This is a moment to treasure.

Kim: I love the one with Brandon & Asher -- the look on Asher's face is "You're OK! You have cheerios!"

I had the honor of documenting Toni & Jay’s vow renewal for their 10th wedding anniversary.  As a photographer I strive to capture emotion first and foremost.  The picture could be technically lacking but if you can feel what the person in the image is feeling, I have accomplished my job.  This was one shoot where you can feel the emotion.  I loved that as I processed the photos I was reminded of many of the moments of that day.

Toni & Jay – it was truly an honor and I pray that Brandon and I can still be so much in love at 10 years as the two of you.  Enjoy your moments :)

Many friends surrounded them on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria to witness their renewal.

They both read their vows from 10 years ago to each other (of which they had written themselves) and they also had new vows to one another.

I always have a bunch of kissing photos with couples :)   I can’t help it….I just love them.

There were also a handful of adorable kiddos there!  I couldn’t help but photograph a couple of them!

To see all the pics from the shoot check out their slideshow below:

kim: Aww, Heather, some of these made me all teary eyed!

Melissa: Some of these made me tear up and I don't even know them! What a beautiful couple and what a strong love. :)

So, I am now doing some advertising on mywedding.com! Once I moved to the DC Metro area I was looking for a place to advertise that fit me.  Finding that fit was a hard one and expensive!  I was very torn on what to do and then Sarah from mywedding.com called.  She found me, that is cool:)   So, after playing phone tag for quite some time (you are very persistent Sarah!) I am now advertising on mywedding.com.  Check out my brochure here.  I am so excited to meet the clients that will come from this avenue!

And because every post should have a picture….a recent ring shot from a vow renewal I recently shot.  Ladies you know you love this one!!!!!!
